"beau? mama buckley?" she bit her lower lip and stepped inside. after so many years of being around, she'd been told just to come in like this place was her own. she found beau's mom and greeted her as she washed her hands.
she didn't even have to ask for her to tell minnie that beau had left outside not too long before. she ducked her head a little embarrassed as she left, beau's mother always having been able to read her. she had left her bag and things inside. she even brought tennis today so she wouldn't have a hard time around the farm if she was walking around. she had learned a very long time ago that one did not bring heels when she was going to be walking around the buckley farm. it was very messy. thankfully, she'd been here long enough to get used to a lot of the things. in fact, this place was a second home to her.
one by one, she made her way towards different places, the farm filled with countless areas she knew her boyfriend liked to visit. she peeked into one of the forts, turning her head side to side, her lips frowning when there was no sign of her cute farm boy. she exhaled and began towards another area, calling out his name. "beau! beau, where are you?" she looked side to side, sighing and looking down, her hands finding their way towards her hips and resting there as she thought where else he might be. her feet took her forward again, figuring sooner or later she would run into him. it didn't help that this place was well...huge.

[style=width:360px;background-color:#fff; border-left: solid 12px; border-color: #4c4d45; border-right: solid 12px; border-color: #4c4d45;][style=overflow: auto; width:300px;text-align:justify; font-size: 8.5px;] the buckley plantation was the single largest bit of land owned by one person. and since his father had passed almost two years ago, that one land owner was beau. as a child, he had loved where he lived. he had expected to always be there, just like his father and his father's father. he'd live there until the day he died and his son would take over. but somewhere along the line, between being a child with blistered hands and bandaged knees, to a man with calloused hands and strong knees.. he'd lost the love for it. perhaps he just grew out of it. or maybe you just had to stop loving the thing that killed your father. his father did what he loved, he made his parents proud. but in the back of beau's mind, he always kept the memory of his father talking about the what if's in his life. what if he had gone to college, what if he had traveled the world. what if he had left this place and realized he loved freedom more than responsibility. would beau turn out like him? in one place forever, dying with a tool in his hand before his hair even turned gray? beau sighed, shook his head, and took a drink of water from his bottle. he wiped his forehead with his sleeve, before pulling his shirt over his head and tossing it aside. he shook his head again, believing maybe his brain would work like a toy etch-a-sketch, and he could just shake these thoughts away. gunner? he asked when he noticed that his dog, a short-legged corgi, was scampering away from him and out into the field. he stepped out of the guest house and onto it's wrap-around porch and watched the familiar car race up the main drive-way, leaving clouds of dust behind it. he smiled a little to himself in that moment, before heading back in to the small house and it's kitchen sink. he splashed his face with water and tried to make himself presentable before he'd head out to meet minique somewhere between the main house and the small one that was a good acre away. the guest house had once been slave quarters, but his grandfather had turned it into a guest house, which he would rent out to anyone who needed a cheap home for a short period. his father had done the same thing, but when beau's younger sister, bree, became too invested in a seventeen year old runaway that was staying there one summer before beau's father died, well it was just an empty house on their land. beau had an idea for it, though. when he noticed, through the thick glass of the kitchen window, that minique was close, he snuck out through the back door and raced up behind her, grabbing her waist and pulling her close. he kissed the side of her face and placed his large hands over her eyes. i have something to show you, he whispered and waiting for her to nod in agreement. "hey there cutie. where's your daddy, gunner? evil man, he's making me run around looking for him." she laughed quietly, half from the fact that gunner seemed to be enjoying himself very much and that she was actually complaining to him about beau. she scratched him for a while longer before patting his head and standing up straight. "alrighty, gunner. help me find your daddy and i'll be sure to give you some treats later, okay?" she smiled to the dog and began to take another step forward. her eyes widened when she was suddenly being pulled backwards, hands going out immediately as if something would spontaneously appear so she could hold on to. she stumbled slightly, not having even heard him or gotten any hint from gunner of beau coming up behind her. just as quickly, she relaxed against him, the smile on her lips growing wider. her cheeks flushed just the slightest bit when she felt something soft press against her cheek. even after all the time they had been together, beau still held the power to get her to grow butterflies in her stomach with this things he did. her petite hands came up to restover his much larger ones, fingers curlied around the edges of his palm. giggling, she tilted to the side so that her ear faced him, listening to his words.
she closed her eyes and nodded slowly. "okay.." she whispered, wondering what it was that he was going to show her. she dropped her hands to her sides and bit her lower lip, both unsure and excited to whatever it was that was coming. she loved being around the farm. there was no doubt that she loved her father and new step-mother, but they weren't as welcoming to what it was she wanted to do. because the buckleys always seemed to like her for who she was, she'd always found herself here. and now, well, there was a certain boy who kept her around even more. she laughed and tilted her head to the side again. "i'm guessing this is a surprise, right? or were you hoping i wouldn't figure out who you were?" she paused bouncing on her heels after a moment. "i'm getting nervous...should i be nervous?"
